This was only half of the story of Cindy and Thom.  Cindy called a couple of months ago because they were coming into town for a family get-together.  She and Thom had been together for fourteen years, and Cindy’s two sisters (and their husbands) loved Thom like family.  So, Cindy and Thom called and told me their plan of wanting to elope in Asheville and surprise the family with n unsuspecting wedding ceremony.

The original plan was to have the wedding at our mountaintop vineyard venue on Monday afternoon.  Well, Cindy and Thom checked into their cabin and loved the view so much that, on Sunday night, they called and requested a change of venue to their cabin.  They also wanted to change from an early-afternoon ceremony to a mid-morning one.  I love a good challenge, and after a bit of work, we made it happen.

They were staying in Black Mountain, about thirty minutes away.  It was a drive up a mountain so steep, Amanda (Elope Asheville’s photographer) almost got out of the car to walk up the mountain.  We parked in the garage, went into the cabin, and hid for about five minutes until the unsuspicious family members arrived.  Amanda and I came out from the hallway just as Cindy and Thom broke the news.  Tears, hugs, and handshakes began and never quite stopped the rest of the time we were there.
